Accessibility Statement
Last updated: June 2025
LearnSpace NZ is committed to making our platform accessible to all users, including tamariki, kaiako, and whānau with disabilities.
Our Goal
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. This means our apps and website should be:
- Perceivable — content is presented in ways all users can perceive
- Operable — all functionality is available from a keyboard
- Understandable — content and controls are clear and predictable
- Robust — content works with assistive technologies
What We Do
- Semantic HTML with proper headings, landmarks, and ARIA attributes
- Keyboard-navigable interfaces with visible focus indicators
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for text)
- Alt text for meaningful images; decorative images marked as such
- Skip-to-content links for keyboard users
- Responsive design that works at 200% zoom
- Form labels and error messages associated with inputs
Known Limitations
We are actively working to address:
- Some older interactive charts may not be fully screen-reader accessible
- Certain complex data tables are being improved for assistive technology support
Assistive Technology Testing
We test with:
- VoiceOver (macOS / iOS)
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Browser zoom up to 200%
- Reduced motion preferences
