What Is MyFeedback Pro?
MyFeedback Pro is an AI-powered writing feedback tool designed for tamariki in Years 1–8. It provides instant, constructive feedback aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum, helping students develop their writing skills with guidance that feels supportive and specific.
The Six Feedback Modes
MyFeedback Pro offers six distinct feedback modes, each targeting a different aspect of writing development:
- Structure — Focuses on text organisation, paragraphing, and logical flow.
- Ideas — Encourages depth of thinking, elaboration, and original content.
- Language — Supports vocabulary choices, sentence variety, and expression.
- Conventions — Addresses spelling, punctuation, and grammar in context.
- Purpose — Helps students write for a clear audience and purpose.
- Voice — Develops authorial presence, tone, and personal style.
You can assign one mode at a time or allow students to cycle through multiple modes on the same piece of writing.
Setting Up a Writing Task
- Navigate to MyFeedback Pro from your class dashboard.
- Select New Writing Task.
- Enter a writing prompt or choose from our curriculum-aligned prompt library.
- Select which feedback mode(s) to enable for this task.
- Set a due date if required, then assign to your class or a specific group.
Students will see the task in their app and can begin writing immediately.
The Teacher Dashboard
Your teacher dashboard gives you an overview of:
- Submission status across your class.
- Feedback summaries showing common strengths and areas for development.
- Individual student progress over time.
- The ability to add your own comments alongside AI feedback.
Best Practices for Kaiako
- Start with one feedback mode so tamariki are not overwhelmed.
- Use the "Conventions" mode for editing stages and "Ideas" mode for drafting stages.
- Review AI feedback regularly — it complements your professional judgement rather than replacing it.
- Encourage students to read and respond to feedback before submitting a revised draft.
Curriculum Alignment
All feedback is mapped to the NZ Curriculum's English learning area, with specific reference to writing standards for each year level. See our curriculum alignment article for full details.
